和英辞書によっては、do-it-yourself storeやhardware storeやself-help storeのような訳もありますが、いずれも微妙に違うと思う。- Do-it-yourself store: 広義的には、間違いではないが、どちらかというとホビー系も含まれる。
- Hardware store: これは、昔からある、比較的小規模な金物屋として考えたほうがいいでしょう。
- Self-help store: この呼び方は、ホームセンターにもなるが、自分の健康や自己啓発のための店という意味もある。
