意味: 英辞郎によると、

〔~に〕火を付ける、放火する
が唯一の他動詞としての訳であるが、この例の場合は、前回のQuestion of the Day #91 Roastとほぼ同じなので、「酷評する」が適訳だと思います。

According to Merriam-Webster:
to set fire to with or as if with a torch
However, in this example, I think the meaning is closer to "roast" (meaning "to subject to severe criticism or ridicule") that was used in Question of the Day #91.
