上記見出しの記事の冒頭の説明にあるように、white fragilityとは、社会学者のRobin DiAngeloが2011年に作った言葉です。2016年の大統領選挙で再び人種問題に焦点が当たることによって注目されるようになりました。新しい表現で日本人にはあまり馴染みのない問題に関するためか、まだ「英辞郎」等に訳はありません。Oxford Dictionariesの定義を訳すと、こんな感じでしょうか。


白人が人種差別による不平等や不正の問題に直面した時に見せる不快感や守りに入る態度のこと。
