binge (名詞)
1854年、飲み合い、また動詞としては、「深酒をする、お酒を吸収する」の意。<中略>もともとNorthamptonの方言。第一次世界大戦のころに「大食いする」の意味も含まれるようなった。

binge (n.)
 1854, "drinking bout," also (v.) "drink heavily, soak up alcohol;"…Noted originally as a Northampton dialect word. Sense extended c. World War I to include eating as well as drinking.
