Sadbaitは、まだどこにも定義や訳はありません。しかし、同記事によると、

インターネット上にsadbaitと呼ばれているものでいっぱいです。あまり注目されませんが、人気の高いネット上の多くのコンテンツは哀愁のあるメロドラマ的なものです。

つまり、sad（悲しい）bait（〔釣りや狩りのわなの〕餌）は悲しいコンテンツで読者や視聴者を集めるものです。この用語は、clickbait（クリックベイト◆ウェブページの閲覧者にクリックしてみる気にさせるリンク（バナー広告など）の延長線上にあるものです。
